Best of Hamilton County athletics 2018-19

JASPER — From playoff appearances to individual accolades, there were plenty of great moments for the Hamilton County High Trojans during the 2018-19 school year. 

Here’s a lot back at the top 10 stories and moments. 

10. Girl power

The HCHS volleyball not only defeated Suwannee on Sept. 17, the Trojans swept the Class 6A Bulldogs.  

9. Boys soccer completes winning season

Even without one senior on the roster, Hamilton County finished with a 9-5 record. Junior Malakai Perez led the way for the Trojans.   

8. Fast freshman 


Jeremiah Gibson was one of the fastest runners in the state. 

Freshman Jeremiah Gibson was one of the fastest runners in the state. After winning a district title in the 200 meter run, Gibson placed eighth in the in the Class 1A State Meet with a time of 22.7.  

7. Best of Suwannee Valley

Tony Stockton was named the Suwannee Valley Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 16.7 points per game in his senior season.  

6. Good start 


Brad Peacock tossed a no-hitter in Hamilton County's second game of the season. 

Brad Peacock started the season on a good note, tossing a no-hitter in Hamilton County’s second game. He struck out eight Aucilla Christian hitters and just missed a perfect game, issuing one walk.

5. Playmaker

With 18 catches for 434 yards and seven touchdowns, playmaker Aderias Ealy was a bright spot for the football team. He was named First-Team All-Suwannee Valley Offense. 

4. Rising up for the moment 

With a spot in the state playoffs on the line, Hamilton County put together a memorable second half to defeat Jefferson County in a district basketball semifinal. Stockton had a game-high 29 points while Nick McClain added 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

3. State Champions

Hamilton County won the Special Olympics Project Unify State Championship.

2. Baseball shocker  

After a tough regular season filled with close losses, the HCHS baseball team pulled off the upset against Lafayette in a district semifinal game. Blake Howard homered and earned the save while his brother Brent Howard pitched four strong innings to help earn a playoff spot.

1. Vester hired

After a lot of turnover in recent years, Hamilton County hired new football coach Richard Vester in December.
