Six Lafayette Hornets and two Branford Buccaneers were named to the 2018 Class 1A All-State Football team.

FloridaHSfootball.com announced the Class 1A honors on Monday.

LHS had three first-team selections. Quarterback Jaxson Beach and wide receiver Ben Massey made first-team offense while linebacker Xavier Fleming was a first-team defense selection. Beach threw for 2,408 yards, ran for 1,143 yards and totaled 44 touchdowns. Massey, an Albany State signee, had 1,088 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns. Fleming made 94 tackles and had two interceptions.    

Running back Garris Edwards (1,064 yards, 7.2 yards per carry, 12 touchdowns) was named to the second team. Wide receiver Richy James (35 catches, 646 yards, six touchdowns) and center Joseph Perry were honorable mentions.

For Branford, running back Aaron McQuay and linebacker Jevin Johnson were honorable mentions. McQuay, who rushed for 1,220 yards on 178 carries, also made the 2017 All-State team as an honorable mention. He scored 17 touchdowns. Johnson made 91 tackles and two interceptions.   

It was the second straight season Beach and Massey were named to the first team. Edwards was an honorable mention in 2017.
