Yulee at Suwannee, 7:30 p.m.
Notes: District opponents the past four years, the Bulldogs and Hornets instead will meet in a Kickoff Classic that won’t count on their records. Suwannee has won three of the four meetings between the two including a 46-14 road rout last year. Among the key areas the Bulldogs will be looking at in the Classic are for young players to emerge at running back and wide receiver.
Interlachen at Hamilton County, 7 p.m.
Notes: Richard Vester’s debut as the Trojans’ head coach will come against a Rams program that hasn’t faced HCHS since 1994. All-time, Interlachen leads the series 8-7 with Hamilton’s last win coming in 1982 as the Rams won the final eight games. The Trojans are also looking to rebound from back-to-back 1-win seasons and are relying on a fun-first system with limited numbers to do so.
Williston at Lafayette, 7:30 p.m.
Notes: The Hornets will be breaking in new head coach Mark Beach, who has been the offensive coordinator the past three years. The Red Devils also have a new coach in former Dixie County defensive coordinator Ric Whittington. Lafayette and Williston last played in 1982, with the Devils leading the series 4-2. Lafayette’s two wins came in 1966 and 1967. The Hornets are looking for playmakers to emerge at running back and wide receiver as well as some improvement defensively from their 8-4 campaign a year ago.
