Playoff history: Suwannee is making its 20th playoff appearance. The Bulldogs are 28-15 with four state championships (1987, 1988, 1989, 1990) and five finals appearances (1999). Wakulla is making its 27th playoff appearance. The War Eagles are 27-24 with two state championship (1980, 1981) and five finals appearances (1978, 2011, 2015).
Last playoff appearance: Suwannee lost 62-15 to Trinity Christian in a Region 1-5A quarterfinal last season; Wakulla beat Ribault 17-8 before losing 28-12 to Trinity Christian in a regional semifinal last season.
The War Eagles are the lone undefeated team in Region 1-5A and a 28-18 come-from-behind win against Suwannee on Oct. 11 was one of their toughest tests. Wakulla averages 526 yards per game, 333 rushing with two 1,000-yard rushers. Jordan Bolden leads the way with 1,187 yards and 12 touchdowns, while quarterback Jaylon Worsham has added 1,011 yards and 9 TDs on the ground in addition to 1,974 yards and 20 TDs passing. Keyshawn Greene headlines Wakulla’s defense with 100 stops, including six behind the line. Andrew Carter has 12 tackles for loss, including four sacks while Kanye Westfield has five sacks. Desmond Greene and Denzel Miller have combined for nine of Wakulla’s 16 interceptions. Suwannee also leans more heavily on its rushing attack behind an experienced offensive line led by Georgia commit Josh Braun. The Bulldogs average 204 yards rushing per game with Jaquez Moore (617 yards, 13 TDs), Tyree Taylor (597 yards, 10 TDs) and DeMarius Thompson (511 yards, 5 TDs) the main weapons. Suwannee also hit several big passes in regular season finale at Dublin with Taylor connecting with Wesley Jones (11 catches, 240 yards and 3 TDs on the season), Keiwan Ladler (6-262, 3) and Moore (16-273, 3). Keyshawn Jones is Suwannee’s top tackler with 67 stops, followed by Ladler’s 60 and Blaine Howard’s 52. Robert Robinson has a team-high eight tackles for loss, including four sacks. The Bulldogs have forced 10 turnovers — five interceptions and recovering five fumbles. Moore, Ladler and Travis McKinney all have one interception and one fumble recovery each.
