Suwannee River Regional Library - Live Oak branch

LIVE OAK — Local writers can receive critiques and advice at the Live Oak Library the next few weeks.

The Live Oak branch of the Suwannee River Regional Library System’s new writers group meets Saturday and Dec. 14 from 1-3 p.m. each day. During the meetings, the group will read over and critique each other’s work. Shirley Rivers, who is hosting the group, will also provide publishing tips.

The seed library will be open Wednesdays at the library from 1-3 p.m. In addition to checking out seeds, the Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

On Thursday, the SongFarmers of Live Oak will be gathering at 5:30 p.m., but not at the library like normal. Rather, the SongFarmers will meet for a Christmas gathering at Covenant First Presbyterian Church at 421 White Avenue SE. Those attending are asked to bring their favorite Christmas songs to sing and play.

The AARP is hosting a Driver’s Safety Class at the library on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Class size is limited. For more information or to register, please call 386-688-5081.

On Saturday, the library will be serving free coffee in the new book area from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Library staff member Debra Barney will teach a knitting class on Dec. 11 and a crochet class on Dec. 18. Both classes meet in the small conference room and begin at 11:30 a.m. Those attending should bring needles and yarn.

General Magistrate Jennifer Kuyrkendall Griffin continues her SCALES (Suwannee County Access to Legal Education Series) on Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. where she will be discussing divorce.

The library is closed Dec. 24-25 for Christmas, as are all branches of the Suwannee River Regional Library System.

On Dec. 27, the library hosts its Game Day for Adults from 10 a.m. to noon. Scrabble and dominoes are available, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own games as well.
