WHITE SPRINGS — The White Springs Economic Development Advisory Committee rescheduled its meeting but still discussed the carillon bell tower at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.
The meeting, slated for Aug. 1, was rescheduled for Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. due to two members being unable to attend.
The committee members that were in attendance last week discussed issues with the bell tower at the park, including asbestos was found in between the bell covers and the bells.
There will be a “Save Our Bells” event, hosted by the state park’s Citizen Support Organization on Sunday at 4 p.m.
It will take place at the Heritage Tourism Center, in White Springs.
“The Curry’s” will be performing at this event and the tickets for the event are $20 per person.
All of the proceeds will go towards the Bell Restoration Project, in order to bring the bells back up to operational status.
