LIVE OAK — A teenager on a mission trip in Mexico died Friday evening after an accident involving their van.

Callie Jordan, a 15-year-old from Sweetwater, Tenn., was accompanying the mission group from Suwannee Baptist Association including her grandfather Andy Jordan, when she suffered head injuries when a tree limb fell on their van as it was stopped for gas, according to a Facebook post from the First Baptist Church of Jasper.

The group tried to get her transported for medical care but she passed away later Friday due to the injuries.

"It is with heavy hearts that we have to say that Callie Jordan has passed away due to her injury," the church posted later on Facebook. "We ask that you please continue to pray for her family during this time, as well as her church and all the missionaries who were there."

Jordan Martin, another member of the mission team, suffered a broken arm.

A Go Fund Me account set up for the Jordan family had raised nearly $31,000 by Tuesday morning.
