Sweets n the Streets

Santa Claus listens to a Christmas wish list at last year's Sweets n the Streets Festival.

JASPER — The 8th annual Sweets n the Streets Festival returns to downtown Jasper next week.

The festival is set for Dec. 14 from noon to 8 p.m., with the parade taking place at 6 p.m.

The parade will include a contest with judging of the various floats, golf carts and entries into the parade.

The Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce has waived vendor fees for the event in an effort to attract businesses to Hamilton County and the event.

The Chamber will instead be accepting donations in lieu of vendor fees in the spirit of Christmas and attracting more vendors to participate in the festival.

There will also be a storefront decorating contest for Hamilton County businesses located downtown in an effort to encourage participation and business attraction in the community.

The winner of the contest will be announced during the festival. There will be one winner from Jasper, one from Jennings as well as one from White Springs chosen.

Photos of storefronts may be submitted through direct Facebook message to the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page, so that the community can vote for the various storefronts.
