Live Oak Rotary sponsors 8th dictionary project

Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Live Oak and members of Suwannee High School Interact Club visited Suwannee Elementary School on Oct. 11 and distributed more than 350 dictionaries to promote literacy. Since its inception, the Rotary Club of Live Oak has been able to reach approximately 3,096 students through the sponsorship of the Dictionary Project. Each student gets to write their name in their very own dictionary. For many students, this is their first dictionary. Dictionaries distributed contain thousands of words and their meanings plus added features such as: weights and measures, Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, information about each of the 50 states, biographies of U.S. presidents and even contains spelling for the world’s longest word.
