Rant & Rave

Well Said Wendell & Wesley! It's about time someone gave some Real in-site to what Randy is doing. Thank you for all your hard work!

In response to Commissioner Wainwrigt's defense of the Mr. Harris's  outstanding raise and additionally overwhelming contract, I say to you Mr. Wainwright, please slowly put down your cup of kool-aide and back away from the political sell the voter down the river table. You have failed to measure-up to your so called promises when running for the elected position. I have known you for many years and I am deeply disappointed in how you took our trust and sold it so far down the Suwannee that we in District 5 cant even see where your stance is anymore. Do us all a favor and resign.

It's real simple folks, this county must establish a charter that sets parameters as to what the BOCC can & cannot do. The vast majority of the state operates under these constraints. If it takes a referendum, so be it.  Set term limits & public approval of salaries & expenditures over a certain amount. This is just common sense. Obviously our Good Ol' Boy system is completely out of control and touch with the very burdened folks that have to bear the cost. Let's raise gas tax & property tax on working homeowners, always the solution, so we can give it to whomever they decide. That way we can fund money losing for airports, buy stupid signs & mansions, give Mr' Harris a raise more than my annual income, on & on.

I work for the Koch Bros, maybe you  know who I am talking about, maybe not. I work 50+ hrs a week, manage a $4.5 million yearly budget by myself.  I don't make the kind of money that one of the county commissioners advocates paying Mr. Harris.  I do not doubt that the man has done a good job, but the county has reaped no payback yet.  If the county tax payers benefit from this venture, then the man has done the job he was hired for, if not then the commissioners responsible for waging the tax payers money should be held accountable. Most folks get a cost of living increase at best, what do you get?  Check with the surrounding counties and see how they compare with Suwannee County's history of fiscal responsibility.  What condition is your road in?

I think the people that are downing the Parent of Leo Walker should be ashamed of them selves.  You don't know the facts of the story and never will.  I pray that you will never be in her shoes.  And I pray for those of you who do beat up on the family.  What if it was you in her shoe???

The article on Mr. Waldron was a cheap shot. Shame on the Democrat.

I think it was totally inappropriate and unnecessary to report on the City Manager's personal issue prior to his taking the job in Live Oak.

This town has a problem with dogs running loose and amok.  It also appears having a problem spending $$ on useless things like high priced signs.  Isn't it about time this town invested in a DOG PARK. Many communities operate dog parks for the benefit of residents and their pets.  One in Live Oak is long over due.  It might serve to get deliquent dogs and owners off the streets.

I saw on the Commission agenda that Mr. Harris now oversee the needs of the Clerk of Courts office. He makes more money than the Clerk of Court, has more power, and by State Statute he is to present all budget request to the Commission. Do we really need all these elected positions when we have Randy Harris?

Good decisions are based on facts.  Unless the facts presented in the Guest Column by Wendell Snowden and the letter to the editor by Wesley Wainwright can be refuted, we should stop complaining and thank our County Commissioners for doing a good job!

Thank you Police Chief Buddy Williams for the professional manner in which you handled the missing child case.  You told us what we needed to know and protected the family's privacy.  I am proud of the way the public agencies and the community came together to assist in the search for Leo Walker.  The "Democrat" did an outstanding job of keeping us informed via its website.  Our thoughts  and prayers go out to the Walker family.

I’m sure hoping that the new administration at Suwannee Elementary School will have a more friendly atmosphere. The old administration was likened unto a prison camp from beginning to ending of day for students with little to no tolerance for socializing with peers. Students were expected to sit still and be quiet from the time they were dropped off till time to go home. Even at lunch. How can we expect children to develop socially in this environment.
