The Live Oak Post Office, as well as the rest of the post offices in the area, reopened Thursday after being temporarily closed due to Hurricane Dorian.

JACKSONVILLE — The U.S. Postal Service has restored service and reopened most of the post offices in the Gulf Atlantic District.

The post offices, where were closed Wednesday after service in the district was suspended at 5 p.m. Tuesday due to the approach of Hurricane Dorian, reopened Thursday for mail delivery and retail operations.

Among the post offices that reopened Thursday are those in Hamilton (Jasper, Jennings and White Springs), Lafayette (Day and Mayo) and Suwannee (Branford, Live Oak, McAlpin, O'Brien and Wellborn) counties.

Remaining closed are 21 post offices in southeast Georgia as well as two in Fernandina Beach and one in St. Augustine. Those facilities remain impacted by the storm.
