Patriot Day

A moment of reflection at last year’s Patriot Day memorial ceremony as the fire department’s air raid sirens sound to commemorate one of the attacks.

LIVE OAK — Suwannee County will remember the attacks of Sept. 11 next week.

The Live Oak Fire Department will host its annual Patriot Day memorial ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11, near the flag pole at the fire station. The LOFD has conducted this ceremony every year since 2001 to honor the civilian and first responder lives lost during the attacks and their aftermath.

The ceremony will begin around 8:30 a.m.

Moments of silence and prayer will be interspersed with the chilling sound of an air raid siren marking each of the terrorist attacks from the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.
