MAYO — The Alton Church of God will host its annual Operation Sting on Wednesday.
The doors will open at 6 p.m. and will stay open until 8 p.m. or until supplies run out.
The event will feature backpacks, shoes, school supplies and clothes for Lafayette County students. Supplies will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.
There will also be bounce houses for those attending to play on as well as meals served.
Operation Sting will be available only to students currently enrolled in Lafayette County schools, including Lighthouse Christian, this year. Organizers said while they have provided assistance to students in surrounding counties in past years, that has meant some Lafayette County students were left without.
The event is for students in VPK through the 12th grade.
For more information, people may contact the church at 386-294-3133 or through the Alton Church of God’s Facebook page.
The Alton Church of God is located at 2329 U.S. Highway 27, Mayo.
