JASPER — A three-car accident resulted in one death on Wednesday, April 24.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Theodore Baker, 84, of Jasper was traveling north on U.S. Highway 41, approaching the intersection of SE Central Avenue in his 2005 Toyota Camry.

Eddie McCormick, 72, of Valdosta, Ga., was traveling directly behind Baker in a 2003 Lincoln Town Car.

For reasons still under investigation by FHP, Baker crossed from the center line of Highway 41 and traveled into the direct path of a semi driven by Lorenza Prelow, 33, of Jacksonville, who was traveling south on Highway 41 from the intersection of Central Ave.

The report states, the front left of Baker’s vehicle collided with the left rear of Prelow’s semi trailer.

According to FHP, a tire set in motion from the initial collision traveled into the direct path of McCormick and struck the hood of his Lincoln Town Car.

Baker was transported to Shands of Live Oak, where he was pronounced deceased.
