LIVE OAK — For those that enjoy great music and dancing, this is the weekend to visit the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.
One of the favorite oldie’s bands, Malt Shoppe Memories, will be in the house Friday, while Soulshine will bring country, Southern rock and many other genres of exciting dancing music to the Music Hall on Saturday.
Opening the weekend will be Northeast Florida’s Malt Shoppe. This is a group of friends who grew up in Brooklyn, New York, with the doo-wop and oldies sound heard on car radios and malt shop jukeboxes everywhere. This dynamic group brings these memorable sounds to performances so they can relive that fantastic era with the audience.
Soulshine, a South Georgia band of full-time musicians who can play any genre of music as well as just about any musical instrument, brings a high energy to the stage Saturday night with its six members bringing their very large and in charge sound. Founded by the front man and lead singer Jason “Bam” Fuqua, it’s all about the music and getting the crowd energized. Soulshine has played all over Georgia, Alabama and frequently entertains at the SOSMP. Come join the fun with Soulshine band members Fuqua, Jason “JaJo” Jordan, Joel Jones, Scott Clark, Kenny Chin, Country Dave Hollis and Jamie “Big Ben” Benson.
Opening for Malt Shoppe Memories Friday night will be Trinity Ann Martinez. Martinez is a Central Florida high school student who loves entertaining on the SOSMP Music Hall stage. She’s been singing most of her life and has performed a number of times at the SOSMP. Opening Saturday night for Soulshine will be up and coming singer Chrystal Furst of Live Oak. Furst is a dynamic singer whose fans are just waiting to hear her on the radio. Come early, these artists go on stage between 7:15-7:30 p.m.
Doors to the Music Hall open at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday for dinner. Bands take the stage at 8 p.m. Free admission.
