You are invited to join United Way of Suwannee Valley for the October community fundraising campaign report luncheon at the Camp Weed and Cerveny Conference Center in the Varn Dining Hall at noon on Oct. 9. The cost of the luncheon is $12 per person, and everyone is invited.
Reservations for the luncheon are needed and may be made by contacting the United Way office at 386-752-5604 x 102 by Oct. 4.
During each month of United Way’s annual community fundraising campaign, the local United Way conducts a campaign report luncheon to provide an opportunity for campaign team volunteers, community citizens, business representatives and agency personnel to learn more about the partner agency services, United Way community impact initiatives and businesses supporting our community’s well being through their support of the United Way.
The organization’s leadership elected to continue a local campaign theme of “Imagine Me” in an effort to help community members attending the campaign activities imagine the impact on community members benefitting from the many programs and services afforded through the United Way affiliated agencies.
Melanie Saxon, American Red Cross, will provide a presentation enabling luncheon participants to imagine a resident assisted by her agency. Courtney Flowers, Suwannee County School District homeless education liaison, will similarly help audience members imagine being children again; however, the children she will help guests imagine will be those from households facing food insecurity and young children who rise early to catch school buses which may have wait times which feel like a long time to them.
Representatives of local businesses which support our community by conducting an exemplary employee giving campaign will help guests imagine how their workplaces take ownership of supporting the community in which their employees live, work, and play.
Additionally, a representative of United Way of Suwannee Valley’s leadership giving group, the Challengers’ Club, will guide guests to imagine the love of the community and motivation which prompts the commitment to leadership giving.
Again, you are invited to join United Way of Suwannee Valley for a delicious lunch of beef and chicken fajitas wrapped in warm tortillas, Spanish rice, refried beans, salad bar, rolls, chef’s choice of dessert, tea, water, and coffee partnered with delightful speakers.
United Way of Suwannee Valley is a community impact and fundraising organization which, utilizing volunteers on all levels, advances the common good by identifying unmet community needs and seeking to alleviate those needs through United Way of Suwannee Valley initiatives and the funding of 22 affiliated health and human service agencies.
