An early morning crash on Thursday, Oct. 11 in Lafayette County resulted in serious injuries to a Live Oak woman and minor injuries to a Mayo man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Reports show that James T. Chancy, 19, Mayo, was traveling north on CR 354 in a 2006 Nissan Altima around 6:55 a.m. and was stopped at the intersection of SR 20 and CR 354. Lacey M. Moore, 22, Live Oak, was traveling south on SR 20 in a 2005 Chevy Cavalier and was approaching CR 354.
Reports further state that Chancy made a left turn onto SR 20 into the path of Moore’s vehicle, striking the front with his left front. Chancy’s vehicle rotated clockwise and traveled a few feet in a northeasterly direction before coming to final rest on the east shoulder of SR 20 facing northeast. Moore’s vehicle rotated counter clockwise and came to final rest on the center line of SR 20 facing in a northerly direction.
Chancy escaped with minor injuries and Moore was transported to Shands UF in serious condition. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Chancy was charged with violation of right of way, FHP reported.
