The Pioneer Day Art Show on Saturday, Oct. 12, sponsored by the Mayo Woman's Club, was a great success this year. The lobby of Lafayette State Bank where the event was held was filled with beautiful works of art from paintings to photography to quilts and crafts.
A generous crowd of guests streamed in and out all day during the festival to admire the unique pieces of art submitted by both youth and adults who were vying for prizes.
“We were able to award $2,690 in cash prizes to the winners,” said Woman’s Club member Betsy Suber.
This year’s winner of the Annette Croft Best of Show went to D.H. Bell for his handcrafted mandolin and dulcimer. The Judy Bletard Best of Show for youth/children was awarded to Lauren Glover.
Amanda Lee won both the Theme Award and the People's Choice award. All in all, there were 86 ribbons given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and honorable mention artists.
“We could not carry on this show without the generous donations and support from the community,” said Suber. “We appreciate all the folks who came in to enjoy the art show and show their support. Thanks again.”
