LIVE OAK — A Live Oak man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on attempted murder charges following a stabbing incident.
The Live Oak Police Department and Suwannee County Fire Rescue responded around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to the EZ Corner Store on Houston Ave. where a man was bleeding profusely and clutching his side from an apparent stab wound.
The LOPD report states the victim was in serious condition from the stab wound below the right side of his rib cage and also had an additional stab wound on his right arm.
The victim told authorities he didn’t know who stabbed him but provided a description of the alleged attacker, the report states.
Officers then followed the blood trail the victim left behind to the front porch of an abandoned house in the 500 block of Winderweedle St. NW, where clothes were found that matched the description the victim provided, the report states.
According to the report, another officer saw 50-year-old Adahid “Diablo” Diaz walking away from that area.
Around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Diaz was located inside an abandoned house in the 400 block of Shelby Ave. and had a blood stain on his arm but no injuries that would have caused bleeding, the report states.
The suspect couldn’t explain the blood stains and denied knowing the victim, but he said he did reside at the Winderweedle house where the blood trail led to. The suspect also told authorities he did own the clothes recovered from the crime scene at the house that matched the victim’s description, the report states.
