HAINES CITY — Lafayette FFA placed second out of 68 FFA teams that competed in the 2019 Florida FFA State Tool Identification Career Development Event at the Florida Leadership Training Center on Dec. 5.

The Tool Identification Event is designed to develop the ability to correctly identify the names and uses of a variety of tools common to the Agricultural Education Curriculum. The event includes identifying and having the knowledge of the use or categorization of 185 tools.

The state runner-up LHS team consisted of Pearson Bass, Silas Fletcher, Logan Byrd and Wyatt Chandler.

Buffalo Creek won the event with 549 points, while Lafayette scored 544 points. Rounding out the top five were Frostproof (540), Ft. White (539) and Trenton (533).
