MAYO — The Lafayette County School Board will meet Tuesday to decide the district’s millage rate for the 2019-20 fiscal year.
The hearing is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lafayette County School Board Administration Building, 363 NE Crawford Street.
The total proposed millage that the board is considering is 6.0860. The current millage rate is 6.2930.
The millage rate consists of the required local effort millage rate that is set by the state, the capital outlay millage rate and the discretionary operating millage rate.
The proposed local effort millage rate is 3.8380, a decrease from the current 4.0450.
The capital outlay (1.5 mills) and the discretionary operating millage rate of 0.7480 mills are proposed to not change.
The capital outlay tax will generate approximately $417,230.
