JASPER — In a meeting that ended one minute after it began, the Jasper City Council approved keeping its millage rate the same.
The council unanimously approved Tuesday leaving the city’s millage rate at 7.9490, following staff’s recommendation.
The rate can not be raised from that proposed rate, although it could be lowered during the budgeting process.
The rollback rate, or the tax rate that will provide the same amount of tax revenue as the previous year’s rate, is 7.4425.
The council will hold a budget workshop Aug. 12 at 5 p.m., just preceding its monthly meeting, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 12.
