JASPER — Kay Dodd delivered laughs at the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner last week.

But the stars of the night were Gator Chevrolet, the ARC of North Florida and Randy McCoy, who garnered the Chamber’s annual awards.

Gator Chevrolet was named the county’s Business of the Year at the Sept. 26 event, held at Hamilton County High School, while the ARC was named Non-Profit of the Year and McCoy was selected as Champion of the Year.

The three awards given at the dinner were sponsored by Marable Construction.

Dodd — a professional comedian the past 25 years, who has been awarded the “Lifetime Acheivement Award” in 2016 — spent most of the night making those attending laugh, as she normally does at her events, with her plethora of jokes. She commented on how she loves the little town of Jasper, and the people are genuinely great.

She then closed her session with a story, to which the end result was a quote that resonated with her and still does to this day, “Never show up for work to work, always show up to work to create excellence.”

With that in mind, she encouraged the people of Jasper to continue with the good work, in hopes that she will be back some day in the future.

Preferred Rental Company, of Jasper, sponsored the keynote speaker.

Also providing entertainment at the event was Hamilton County musician Hallie Davis.

There was a recognition of veterans held at the beginning of the program, when Jonathan Law asked that all veterans stand to be recognized in appreciation of their service to the country.

Chamber President Samantha Prueter closed the dinner, thanking everyone for their support in making the event a success.
