MOULTRIE, Ga. — Friends and family of a Moultrie servicewoman have started a scholarship in her memory, and they ask the community to help.

The Ladies of Victorious Endings (L.O.V.E.), founded by Lasonda Davis, is raising money for the Jasmine Shanae Lovett Memorial Scholarship.

Lovett was a senior airman of the security forces unit at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., when she died May 14, 2018, at the age of 22.

The scholarship was established within two weeks of Lovett’s death. L.O.V.E. has been raising money through donations and hopes to present their first scholarship this summer, according to materials Davis sent to The Observer.

“Jasmine had a passion for tutoring and encouraging the youth,” Davis wrote in a letter asking for donations. “She found that obtaining an education was a key aspect of being successful, and this is why we believe this is something that would make her proud.”

The applicant must have a 3.0 grade point average, must write an essay and must provide an official high school and/or college transcript and available scores from aptitude and achievement tests.

For more details on how to donate or on how to apply, contact Davis at (229) 921-0141 or by email at
