LIVE OAK — Already enrolled at the University of Florida, Josh Braun continues to garner high school accolades.
Braun, a senior offensive lineman at Suwannee High, was named to the Class 5A All-State first team by FloridaHSFootball.com, which released its honors Thursday and Friday.
It’s the second All-State recognition for Braun, a 6-foot-7, 335-pound lineman. He was an honorable mention selection following his sophomore season for the Bulldogs.
During his senior campaign, Braun helped pave the way for Suwannee to average 208 yards rushing per game and nearly 30 points per outing. That included some snaps as a blocking back in the backfield in the Bulldogs’ “Rhino” package.
Braun committed and signed with Florida in December during the early signing period after originally planning to sign with Georgia. However, Sam Pittman, UGA’s offensive line coach, left Georgia to become the head coach at Arkansas, which caused Braun to reconsider.
He was a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Braun is the first Suwannee player to earn first-team All-State honors since Trysten Hill in 2015. Steven Anderson was an honorable mention choice in 2016.
