LIVE OAK — This weekend at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is going to be filled with spectacular music.
The weekend features the first Suwannee River Jam Audition on Friday for the 2019 Jam, coming up May 1-4. Saturday night, the much-loved Southern Burn Band of Gainesville returns to rock the night with country and classic Southern rock.
Friday night’s event will begin at 7 p.m. with up to 14 solo/duo artists in the auditions. Artists from all over are signed up including a waiting list. Names of those artists already signed up at press time are M. T. Miller (Daytona), Amanda Gilbert (Valdosta, Ga.), Reginald Stacy (Bronson), Sarah Trimm (Live Oak), Joe Martino (Lake City), Brandon Adams (St. Augustine), Kyle Brigham (Live Oak), Brooke Spence (Jacksonville), Sadie Miller (Branford), Katie O (Jacksonville), Stephen Quinn (Jacksonville) and Cheyenne Brigham (Live Oak). All are experienced country artists who bring with them awesome talent and stage presence.
This event is expected to be filled with 14 solo or duo acts and a waiting list in the event someone already signed up can’t make this date. The five top scoring performers will move on to the March 8 finals at the Music Park for solo and duos. Be sure to be there at 6 p.m. Friday night when doors open to cheer on your favorites. Admission but arrive early as it is likely to be a packed house.
Solo and duos who do not win in this first audition may sign up for the Feb. 16 audition at the Steinhatchee Fiddler Crab Festival, the only other solo and duo audition, if there are openings. Bands may sign up for the bands only audition Feb. 8 at the SOSMP, the Steinhatchee audition Feb. 16 or the March 8 audition at the SOSMP for bands. Also, all solo and duo finalists will audition one last time March 8 at the SOSMP and those who will perform at the SRJ 2019 will be selected that night.
Bands do not have to return for a second time once they win at an audition. They go straight to the SRJ 2019 without further auditions. Bands which do not win an audition may sign up for the next band audition but for only one audition at a time.

The Southern Burn Band of Gainesville returns Saturday to rock the house with its great music for dancing and listening. This is a high energy, extremely fun Southern rock and country cover band from current chart toppers to classic hits. Southern Burn is a regular at the SOSMP because fans just love their style of country and other genres of music. Their purpose as a band is encouraging fans to dance, laugh and have a good time.
Free admission Saturday night, doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner, music begins at 8 p.m.
