MAYO — A handcrafted mandolin was the top exhibit at this year’s Pioneer Day Art Show.

D.H. Bell took home the People’s Choice award for adults as well as the Annette Croft Award for Best of Show for his musical instrument entry at the Oct. 11 show held at Lafayette State Bank and sponsored by the Mayo Woman’s Club.

The children’s People’s Choice Award went to Saskue Huerematte for “Grandmother’s Love,” a photo of a grandmother and grandchild holding hands.

This year’s theme was “Pioneer Florida.”

Cash prizes ere awarded for first through third place in each category, as well as a cash prize for the Annette Croft-Best of Show award.

Total, there were nearly 70 entries in the show.
