McALPIN — On Monday, Feb. 10, the McAlpin Community Club honored two of its longstanding members, Bob and Donna Wade.
They have served the Community Club for 42 years.
The Wades moved to the area in 1976 and were invited to the club by Clarence Goff. Over the next 40-plus years they each served in various positions, including President and Board of Directors. Bob also served as Volunteer Fire Chief for several years and is currently a Trustee.
They helped in the building of the firehouse in the early 90’s. The merry-go-round that Bob built is still enjoyed by the children of the community. They were always faithful to help peel potatoes, fry chicken, scrub floors and much more. Whenever things would need to be repaired, patched or replaced they were there to help or many times just take care of the problem. They went through several lawn mowers just keeping the grounds mowed.
While today other volunteers are helping with the needs of the Club, the Club will always be thankful for the faithfulness of Bob and Donna Wade. They are now Honorary Members of the McAlpin Community Club. Making the presentation is Ash Ranganadan, the club’s president.
