LIVE OAK — The Friends of Music Concert Series will conclude is 2018-19 season with a concert by Thomas D. Huffman, concert organist, on Friday.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Covenant First Presbyterian Church, 421 White Ave. in Live Oak. Admission is free and a reception will follow.
Huffman currently serves as the Associate Director of Music for the Northwood Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, Fla., where he plays the organ and directs the youth vocal and handbell choirs. Formerly he served the First United Methodist Church of Dunedin, Fla., where he was the Director of Music and Worship Arts/Organist for more than 25 years.
Huffman holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the University of West Virginia.
He is past Dean of the Clearwater Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and currently serves on its Executive Board and is the Chair of the AGO Scholarship Committee.
Active in the Florida Chapter of the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, he also accompanies various groups in the Clearwater area, including the Clearwater Bach Choir. Recent concerts have included St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland; St. Columb’s Cathedral in Derry, Northern Ireland; and the Organ and Brass Concert with the Florida Orchestra Brass.
Huffman has three grown children and lives with his wife Cindy in Dunedin.
