James E. “Jim” Shanks, 82, of O’Brien, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 in Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, following a long illness. The Cincinnati, Ohio native moved to O’Brien eight years ago from Dade City, was a U. S. Army Veteran serving during World War II and was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his wife: Lila J. Shanks, O’Brien; three daughters, Sharon Lee and Deborah Coon both of O’Brien and Judy Dempster, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Larry N. Shanks, Mason, Ohio and James F. Shanks, O’Brien; nine grandchildren. Ten great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.

Daniels Funeral Home of Branford was in charge of all arrangements.
