Wild Blackberry Festival is over the top!

Jasper — Jasper's Wild Blackberry Festival event organizers went over the top this year and outdid themselves, as well as decided on a permanent home at Jasper City Park for the annual festival from here forward.

A record crowd turned out to enjoy all the festivities, beginning with a wild blackberry pancake breakfast at the Jasper Woman's Club just down the street from the park. Cindy Eatmon from the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce did a fabulous job making sure the event went off without a hitch and the weather even cooperated. Not a drop of rain fell on anyone's head and a cool breeze kept everyone comfortable throughout the day.

Elvis Presley tribute artist and Suwannee Valley's very own singing sensation Teddy Mac Elvis, a.k.a. Teddy McMullen, was the master of ceremonies under the big tent at the 5th Annual Wild Blackberry Festival in Jasper on Saturday, June 14. He brought with him other “Legends” stars by the likes of Hank Williams Jr. (Dave Fountain), Patsy Cline (Texanna, otherwise known as Jeff to her friends), and Lorrie Morgan (Diane Johnston) just to name a few.

There was so much going on at the park with all the music, arts and crafts booths, horse-drawn carriage rides, a bounce house, the Big Kahuna Water Slide, a rock climbing wall and pony rides for the kids, and so much more, that there was something fun for everyone to do and enjoy.

The Hamilton Humane Society Dog Contest brought out some of the most adorable four-legged creatures, who managed to capture the hearts of everyone, including two little female mutts named May and June, who are up for adoption if you're interested.

The JRC Country Store booth, sponsored by Bass's Furniture, had a successful day selling wild blackberries, jams, jellies, cobblers and ice cream, as well as commemorative T-shirts.

The event was sponsored by the Hamilton County Tourist Development Council, Hardee's of Jasper, PotashCorp White Springs, Hitchcock's Foodway, Coggins Farms and Bass's Furniture, as the community strives to revitalize the city of Jasper.

Be sure to watch the videos for a sampling of the day's amazing and “Legendary” entertainment.
