Suwannee Democrat

Live Oak — Republicans are just as bad as democrats now that they have started letting all the illegals come in. We need a real conservative like Sarah Palin to stand up for us real americans against the anti-americans in both parties and stop democrat and republican socialism that is giving our nation to the illegals!

How will the names of the three elementary schools be determined should we go with three pre-k through fifth grade schools? Please DO NOT have them all begin with Suwannee and some direction following Suwannee. Name them after people or use nature or some other idea to establish the names of the schools. When will we know the new names and please don't make all the schools have the bulldog as their mascot. The school board office told us the names would be chosen after reconfiguration, if approved. - Editor

Considering the SMS and SHS schools, it would seem BEST to have the primary, elementary, and intermediate schools to remain just as they are NOW! If not then the SMS will experience a HUGE challenge when all the students from three different schools (who will NOT have gone to school with) make the transition to SMS.

I've attended both meetings concerning the reconfiguration of the Live Oak elementary, intermediate, and primary schools. The PowerPoint presentation at both meetings where basically the same. There was MUCH information on WHY WE SHOULD RECONFIGURE AND NO INFORMATION INCLUDED ON WHY WE MIGHT WANT TO KEEP THE PRESENT MODEL WE HAVE!

****

As it stands now with there being a Suwannee Primary, Suwannee Elementary, and Suwannee Intermediate school, all students have the exact chance of attending the Suwannee Elementary new building, the Suwannee Primary built in 1976, and the Suwannee Intermediate school built in 1967. Students would be treated equitably as they are now.

Why is it that the medically fragile and autistic behavior classrooms will remain at Suwannee Primary? It already appears to be that the old Suwannee East School is set to house those students who are going to require lots more attention and working with to meet needs that other buildings will have! Why SPS?

What is the state statute which speaks to the three gifted classes NOT being able to all be at one building. These three teachers need the opportunity to be a part of a team with those who have similar students just as much as those who don't have gifted students. All regular ed teachers get the benefit of being part of a team in the same building so why should the gifted teachers not be given the same opportunity to be team members? Please explain.

****

Will the school board and superintendent please share who all is serving on the Reconfiguration Task Force both the District Committee and the Community Committee? It would have been best to have advertised these committees would be formed and allowed community members who really wanted to serve to be given the opportunity to serve. Please share the names of both committees with the public.

Will the county ever restripe CR137 between US90 and Pinemount Rd(CR252)? The existing stripes are worn off completely and extremely dangerous at night and when raining, especially with the 9 curves. There have been several fatalities and lots of near misses on that section of road. Please get this fixed. CR137 should be a priority. Its a main road to Wellborn, connects to I-10 and dump station.

To the person responding to my being "annoyed by the workplace folks who "proselytize." My guess is that you are speaking of those of the Christian religion, and not those that are non-Christian. There are other religions in our society other than Christianity and those who are not affiliated with ANY religion.

Went to BHS week to pick up a student. Two officers walked right past me with out even a glance my way. They were engrossed in personal conversation. No one in the office noticed either. We need to be observent in our schools.

County Commissioners, why let Randy Harris tinker with the mowing and beautification of County property when that is already being adequately done. Seems like a total waste of taxpayer money when the job is already being done at no cost to the taxpayers. Like the old saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I take exception to the person complaining about everyone driving around here at high speeds. How do you expect them to continuously run all the stop signs and red lights unless they drive excessive? This is a huge problem and someone is going to get hurt. It needs to be stopped.

Regarding the February 1, 2013 opinions of local law enforcement on gun control: The Founding Fathers were mistaken on just that one item, but now that the 2nd Amendment has been tampered into a profitable beast of our liking, yes, let us tamper with it no more.

Pres. Obama was recently quoted as saying Washington does not have a spending problem. Maybe he could use one of his vacations to go to a rehab facility where they could explain to him that it is not to our benefit to borrow 4 billion dollars per day to pay our bills.

Recently, I went to a high school basketball game. At the start of the varsity game, I counted 23 cheerleaders. There were only 10 players. A squad of 5 to 8 girls would be much more practical. They should try out in front of a selection group and compete to be on the team. Just like the boys.

If we have three elementary schools again with the grades Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, could we know what the names are being considered for the reconfigured schools? Please do not include the word Suwannee in the new names. Let's get creative and come up with suitable unique names as to give the three schools a completely new identity. The school board office told us the names would be chosen after reconfiguration, if approved. - Editor

Concerning the possible reconfiguration of the Live Oak schools at the primary, elementary, and intermediate levels, can we have specific names of people serving on the community committee and know the criterion for which they were selected. Also, could we know the names of the school personnel who served on the committee? Thank you.

Some of the district departments of the Suwannee District Schools need to be edited and complete with contact information. The school health tab doesn't have a contact number or contact information. Missing is the name of the administrator for this department. Please look at this and make modifications.

I want to thank Love Inc. for everything they do for our students and families in need. They have provided snacks, clothes, shoes, supplies, and other items requested to help our children. It is great to have a resource with such love and compassion in our community. Thank you!!!

Can it be that the BOCC is  going to require qualified capable people that actually do their job to replace the good ol' boy paycheck collectors? All them need to measure up, paid, elected, or otherwise. Our local"governing bodies" are a bad joke & have been for decades! It's about time we get a fair shake for our money.

****

Why do the kids get out of school early every first Wednesday with all the holidays they get? I see no need for it.

In reference to Rant & Rave on Friday the 19th about a dog chasing cars. You should move to 168th Street. People had to slow down to 35 mph for my dog that was chasing their cars. Someone took care of her because she has been missing going on two weeks. A beautiful lab mix that was loved and she also loved to run. God will take care of you.

Let us speak of immigration reform. No person from a foreign country has a right to become a citizen of the U.S. Being allowed to enter this country as a guest worker or as a potential citizen is a privilege that should be extended only to law abiding people. People who are in the country illegally are criminals. Everyday they are in this country is another crime. Every time they use our healthcare system, our schools, drive without licenses, and other actions, they commit another crime. Being in this country illegally should be a third degree felony. As a convicted felon, a person cannot become a citizen of the U.S. Give illegals 30 days to leave this country then begin convicting them as felons.

Concerning your editorial and article on Klausner’s officially coming. Not to put a damper on Rick Scott’s little Klausner parade. But when they first made their presentation, the number was $860 million in a 10 year period, not $130 million in three. And the quote was 350 jobs to Suwannee County. Now they’re saying for the state. But don’t worry citizens. Stay tuned. The numbers keep changing.
