Pedestrian struck by vehicle Thursday on SR 51 is "alert", says FHP

Live Oak — A Live Oak man who was critically injured late Thursday night when he walked onto SR 51 and was struck by an oncoming vehicle is "alert" at a local hospital and appears to be recovering, FHP Sgt. Tracy Hisler-Pace reported Saturday.

Daniel Fitzgerald, 33, Live Oak, was standing on the east paved apron of SR 51 facing the travel lanes when he entered the northbound lane in front of a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. The Cavalier struck Fitzgerald near 133rd Drive.
