Rant & Rave for May 2, 2014

Live Oak —

30 MPH on Helvenston Street! Ridiculous. Maybe up to Birdland. From that point let’s consider 35 MPH to the Meadow’s Apartments adn 45 MPH from that point to Hwy 90. The way it is now, our police department could support the town of Live Oak with revenue from speeding tickets. Of course writing those tickets would be a full time job. And now a new traffic pattern? Guess that refers to those really needed stop signs.

When a oil company has a oil spill they pay a fine for oil spilled. When a sewage plant has a sewage spill they should pay fine also, don’t you think?

The local Chamber of Commerce has a sign indicating support for the Council Manager form of government at the City. I find it interesting they formed an opinion on this yet could not decide if they supported the Wet vote or not. Very peculiar.

I would like to thank that wonderful person that turned in my prescription glasses. I dropped them in the parking lot of Lowes on 4/24/14. see there are wonderful people that live here.

Quit putting lipstick on a pig. The grant $ for the heritage scam came directly from the pockets of every citizen in this state. So long as 1 truck or employee is on that property it will cost taxpayer money forever. It will never produce any discernible return and it is now off the tax roles forever. Everyone involved should pray for forgiveness over the lies for this useless project. The trail looks like a good place for drug dealers to ply their trade, so it may make a buck for someone anyhow.

Does the NROTC program teach its cadets to swim, handle a boat, tie knots, go asea and shoot weapons?

Speaking as a woman about the equal pay act. So, you as a man with 10 years in a company are willing to have your employer required to pay me fresh off the street with no experience exactly what you get for the same job? I am not saying you should hire at a lower salary. of course starting salaries should be the same. Also, the figures quoted in every rant against the republicans who voted this down (and every other time it comes up) fail to take into account that the majority of women take time off their jobs to have babies or as the designated caregiver in their home. When men can carry a baby to term for 9 months, and then stay home with that same baby for maternity leave and take multiple days off during the year because that child is sick or the baby sitter didn't show up, you can tell me its fair to force companies to lose more money fulfilling government regulations. But also look at the White House. Currently under the Obama administration there is a salary gap of at least 15% between men and women.
