Live Oak —
Two vehicles collided Wednesday morning when a vehicle reportedly failed to see an oncoming car while making a left turn, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to an FHP report, on Wednesday, at approximately 9:50 a.m., James Cleon Westberry, 77, Live Oak, was driving a 1998 GMC Sierra and traveling west on US 90 approaching the intersection of Helvenston Street. Susan Marie Schnaudigel, 41, Live Oak, was driving a 2003 Dodge Neon and traveling east on US 90 proceeding through the intersection of Helvenston Street. FHP reported that Westberry attempted to make a left turn onto Helvenston Street and turned left in front of the Neon. The right front of the Sierra collided with the right front of the Neon in the eastbound travel land of US 90 within the intersection.
After the collision, the Sierra came to a final rest facing southwest on a grassy island on the sound side of the roadway. Schnaudigel’s vehicle rotated clockwise and came to a final rest facing southeast in the eastbound travel lane of US 90.
Schnaudigel and her passenger, Olevia Bogan, 71, Live Oak, sustained minor injuries and were transported to Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Westberry was cited for improper left turn.
