City Hall’s proposed clock tower

Live Oak — The Live Oak Community Redevelopment Agency voted unanimously recently to begin the engineering process for a new clock tower that will be situated on the north side of Live Oak City Hall along Howard Street (US 90). The project, once completed, will help guide tourists to City Hall and will notify local residents of upcoming meetings on the LED board.

CRA Director George Curtis proposed a designed clock tower to the board. With the proposed design, Curtis said it will cost about $35,000 in supplies to construct.

“You’re looking at about $11,000 if the clock is shipped and installed by a company,” Curtis said. “If the city handles the installation, it could run about $7-9,000. An LED board is estimated at $10-15,000.”

Curtis said the clock tower will stand approximately 16 feet tall.

“It would give the city presence on Highway 90,” he said.

Once the engineering process is complete, the city will look to begin construction on the clock tower.
