Mayo — The Lafayette County Public Library hosted a book signing for local author Delores Leggett Walker on Friday, Oct. 4, to launch the release of her first novel, “Legend of Promise”, a 316-page contemporary Christian fictional mystery and book number one of Walker’s Promise series of books through CreateSpace Independent Publishing.

“It was a wonderful day with around 22 to 25 folks stopping in to buy a signed copy, or to say they had purchased one for their Kindle,” said Walker.

Two days later, Walker and two of her Mayo author friends, Jonnie Whittington and Sydney Clary, set up a table showcasing their books at the Fall Festival in Dowling Park on Oct. 6.

“There was a good flow of traffic and each of us sold books,” Walker said. “Overall, it was a wonderful weekend.”

Walker’s next stop is OakRidge Assisted Living Center in Mayo, Oct. 16, where she will present a devotion at 9:45 a.m. and then read excerpts from her book.

“It will be available for purchase while I'm there,” she said.

Meanwhile, Walker is busy working on her second book of the series, “Gathering Promises”, which she hopes to publish next year.
