Jasper man arrested for kidnapping, sexual battery

Victim said she was grabbed and dragged by three people

Jasper — A Jasper man is behind bars being held without bail for the kidnapping and sexual battery of a mentally defective female victim, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

According to arrest reports, on Monday, Feb. 17, HCSO received numerous calls about an attempted or committed sexual battery that occurred the weekend before at a specific location at SW 6th St. and 7th Ave. in Jasper. Jasper Police Department was notified and officers were dispatched to the scene. During a search of the area they found numerous articles of clothing, undergarments, shoes and other items strewn around the property, as well as drag marks on the ground. All the evidence was secured and photographs were taken of the scene.

Reports further state that officers went to the victim’s home to conduct an interview. The female victim stated she was walking down 7th Ave. when she heard three unidentified male voices and was then grabbed and dragged to the middle of the rear of the house. The victim stated that although it was dark and she couldn’t see the subjects’ faces, she was 100 percent positive one of the three suspects was Albert Eddie Albritton, 42, Jasper, an acquaintance she has known for many years.

The victim stated she was forcibly thrown from one male subject to another and then her clothes were ripped off. She said she was forcibly thrown to the ground and grabbed by her throat. When she tried to scream one of the male subjects pressed his knee on her throat, depriving her of oxygen. She said she was afraid for her life and thought she was going to die. One of the subjects got on top of her, but then he yelled, “She bit me!” after which all three subjects ran off, reports show.

Albritton was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 18, and booked into the Hamilton County Jail on charges of kidnapping and sexual battery on a mentally defective victim. He is being held without bail, according to HCSO.
