Back to School Bash is Saturday

Live Oak — Suwannee Coalition’s Back to School Bash will be held this Saturday at Suwannee High School.

The Bash is a community-wide event which provides free backpacks and school supplies for children in Suwannee County. Hundreds of organizations and individuals come together for this event where students and their parents receive a message of encouragement, free refreshments and, of course, backpacks.

“We plan on serving 1,000 students K-12 in an effort to help Suwannee students start off their academic year on the right foot,” said Suwannee Coalition’s Steven Schneitman. “This event is a lot of fun for volunteers and it’s a great experience to see our community come together and serve in such a meaningful way.”

The Bash will take place from 9-11 a.m.

Last year’s Bash saw 1,300 youth who received school supplies. There were about 3,500 people who attended the event with 102 volunteers. The total amount of cash donations equaled $5,616 with $6,208.32 spent on the event.

The high school is located at 1314 Pine Ave SW in Live Oak, and the event is open to all Suwannee County students.
