Live Oak —
why would Somers not check with the largest transfers first and show expense for services ? this want save us taxpayers money only free up more money for the county to spend in other places leave this alone bad deal.
K Suwannee citizens, exercise your right to express your dismay at the decision of the commissioners to allow EMS non-emergency transfers. Ask for a detailed income vs. expense. Ask about the additional training required. Ask Mr. Harris, a castoff of Marion County, how this decision will benefit Suwannee County. I believe in the long run, YOU, Suwannee Citizens, will be supporting this erroneous decision via increased taxes.
What is Mr. Sommer's planning on doing with all this money he thinks he is going to be raking in with the non-emergency transport? If I remember correctly, my fire taxes went up. The ONLY thing I've seen come out of that is Mr. Fire Chief's BRAND NEW truck. Why can't they be putting that money elsewhere that will actually make a difference? I'm 17 minutes from the nearest county fire station, but a shut-down volunteer station is a block away. I haven't seen a truck leave there in about a year now. So you take away our neighbors from saving me and my children's life while I have to wait anywhere from 15-30 minutes for 4 guys and 2 trucks from across the county to come save my foundation? This county really needs to rethink things. Wake up, people. We don't have fire protection. You've got 5 stations and maybe 15 guys covering 40,000 residents. Better go out and buy more fire extinguishers. They're more interested in money than they are about saving people.
Medical trans. & farmer's mkt., 2 bad ideas, gov't. involvement in private enterprise rarely works & cost taxpayers more $$$. Worry about gov't. shortcoming 1st.
