Suwannee Democrat

Live Oak — Bryant Thigpen did an excellent job covering the news of Assistant Principal Gary Caldwell demotion then lateral move to the High School. Hopefully he will attend the school board meeting Tues. June 25 to hear updates concerning this case.

Our four republican county Commissioners are spending more then Any four democrats have. Some times you have to say no!!! the county needs to slow down spending.Harris needs to live within Suwannee counties budget not Marian counties.

To who ever dumped 4 small 6 week old puppies at the trash site in the heat and bad weather should be arrested.Animal control will adopt them out .How hard was that next time give them away not dump them A**HOLES thats for the pups that didnt have a chance or a voice !!!!

Able-bodied teens should not stand in front of Winn Dixie asking for handouts for baseball travel. Coaches (or mentors or grandpas) shouldn't sit in lawn chairs relaxing while the teens panhandle. Take my groceries to my car. Wash my car. Mow my lawn. ANYTHING for a buck. But don't stand there with one hand out and one hand holding a cell phone on which you're texting and listening to music and ask for my hard-earned money. Parents, please teach your children that if you can't afford something, then they just can't participate. It won't kill them. It will build character.

I would like to know how come there are no programs for the homeless here in Suwannee County. All the churches here and all of you walk right past them like they are beneath you or don't exist? For whatever reason they have fallen on hard times and no church can open their doors for some AC relief, a cot, shower and a meal? Love thy neighbor unless you live in Live Oak. I only have a 2 bedroom apt that I don't think my landlord would appreciate all the traffic if I brought them here for a good nights sleep and a shower and a meal but I would. So why isn't there a place like that here? Who do I need to talk to get something like that started?

What is going on Scarborough? You let another person(Campbell@SMS) leave- Shame on you. You are killing our schools. It's time for you to GO our Suwannee County Schools will be even worst off then they are now. Why are people leaving the County office, schools etc? Wake up Suwannee our schools are in major trouble

I was so impressed with the presentation from community members about the inadequate representation of minority employees in our schools. Thank you for bringing this to the attention of our leaders and the rest of the community. I hope the superintendent and the board make hiring black teachers and principals a priority as they voiced after the presentations.

How insulted were many members of the audience at the school board meeting every time the board chairman spoke?? VERY! Even the comments from the superintendent and other board members were positive as were the presentations from concerned citizens. The board chair told the audience they they lack decorum and real concern about their children. School grades are the chair's only concern. That's sad. Children should be your passion, sir.

Thank you to the young men wearing the green vest working daily with their weed eaters and blowers to make Live Oak beautiful not just downtown but in all areas of Live Oak. Your hard work is appreciated.

Now after the supreme court has voted down the voting rights act of the 6o,s can our county go to county wide voting that over 70% of the voters ask for.

How come they say the Douglass Center is not suitable for after school care and yet they let you go there for a meal site for children to eat lunch and breakfast in the cafeteria. If it’s unsafe for children, they shouldn’t have it as a meal site.
