Two more parcels in the bag for Perimeter Road

Live Oak —

The Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously 5-0 at a recent regular monthly meeting to purchase two additional parcels needed for the Perimeter Road project. One four-acre parcel was purchased for $1,900. The other four-acre parcel was purchased for $6,500. Both properties were purchased at their appraised value.

The perimeter road project has been in the planning process for over five years now. The proposed road will connect US 90 near CR 49 with US 129 North by way of 72nd Trace.

Perimeter Road is a joint effort between Suwannee County, the city of Live Oak and the Suwannee County Development Authority. Suwannee County contributed $200,000; the city of Live Oak and the SCDA each contributed $100,000 to generate $400,000 to be used for right-of-way acquisition, planning and permitting.

So far, $350,558.70 has been expended, leaving a balance of $49,441.30.
