Dr. King Jr. activities planned for today

Live Oak — Suwannee County

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of MLK Day which is also Monday. Lineup is at 9 a.m. at Suwannee-Hamilton Technical Center. The parade will go east on Pinewood Drive, turn left onto Ohio Avenue North/MLK Drive, turn left onto West Howard Street, turn left onto Walker Avenue and end at African Baptist Church.

Following the parade will be a service at African Baptist Church in honor of Dr. King. A special day filled with activities will be held on the grounds of the church with vendor booths, food, live entertainment, fashion show, Live DJ (Quaylo The Music Man Riley) and much more.

Hamilton County

The town of White Springs will be celebrating their 3rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day beginning at 10:30 a.m. today at the Community Center on US 41, across from Munchies, and the public is invited to attend.

In keeping with Dr. King’s words,  “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others?”, the event will honor two local leaders with the town’s Beautiful Dreamer Award. The program will include music, dance and storytelling. 

After the formal program, lunch will be served.
