Friday crash claims life of Wellborn man

Live Oak — A Wellborn man lost his life in a single vehicle crash in Suwannee County Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Reports show that on Friday, June 13, at 6:35 p.m., a 2007 Toyota Rav4 SUV, driven by William Mathew Carr, 43, Wellborn, was traveling north on 29th Road, south of US 90. For unknown reasons, Carr failed to properly negotiate a sharp curve to the right. The SUV traveled off the roadway onto the left grass/dirt shoulder and the front of the vehicle struck a fence and a large oak tree, coming to final rest in a northerly direction. Carr was pinned within the vehicle for a short time while Suwannee County Rescue personnel extricated him. Carr was transported to UF Health where he succumbed to his injuries, FHP stated.
