Rant & Rave for May 30, 2014

Live Oak —

Will the City Pool be idle next school year or will the Suwannee Intermediate School use it to teach its 4th and 5th graders to swim?  Any bets?

****

Once again the FCAT is over and it's MOVIE TIME at the Suwannee County public schools!  I'm told Frozen was really good.  I guess school is out, for all practical good it's doing.

Common Core. What’s that? Another government education program that our over-bloated government is going to force and contoll our schools with; sad. We are 25th in the world on education, yet we spend 2-5 times more money per student. Yes it doesn’t work but the government keeps throwing money and more regulations and controls (less freedom) at schools. Our school system board (Washington, D.C.) is broken and needs to be eliminated. Give power back to local schools and get government and Washington out. Oh yeah, Washington is trying to shut down home schooling and charter schools. What does that tell you? Socialism? Communism?

****

Anyone who thinks the City and County are not doling out funds to maintain the Heritage Mansion is sadly mistaken. I would be curious to see how much is wasted (thrown away down a gutter) annually to maintain this albatross. Note to City and County, “Give it Back.”

I want to thank the community of Branford for their rememberance of our fallen heroes. Today we give alot of lip service only but Branford lined their 2 main streets with flags and at each flag there was a cross with a hero's name and where they served. Thank you for such a visual, moving rememberance of all who have given everything.

it is very discriminating that the Board of County Commissioners by approving and funding the various constitutional officials budgets fund the costs of Health Insurance premiums for certain retirees as long as He / She gives the county their state subsidy which at the most is 150.00 a month, but don't provide that same benefit for Their any of their retired employees
