Good morning. Here's a look at what's happening today. 

Weather:

Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 101. Light and variable wind becoming northeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Tuesday night calls for Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

The Battle of Gettysburg begins

The largest military conflict in North American history begins this day when Union and Confederate forces collide at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The epic battle lasted three days and resulted in a retreat to Virginia by Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.

County Road 49  Possible daytime lane closures after 8:30 a.m. three miles south of  U.S. 90 for drainage improvements.

County Road 137  Daytime lane closures after 8:30 a.m. between U.S. 90 and Eighth Avenue in Wellborn for building a new sidewalk.

Irvin Avenue (State Road 51)  Daytime lane closures after 8:30 a.m. between Evergreen Avenue Southwest to Walker Avenue (just south of the roundabout) for constructing a new sidewalk.

U.S. 90   Daytime lane closures between the Columbia and Madison County line to repaint roadway markings.

U.S. 129   Daytime lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between Live Oak and Branford for shoulder repairs.
