Rant & Rave for June 27, 2014

Live Oak —

Amazes me how many businesses this town squashes, but they do take forever to open then they don't have enough money to cover them for a year or so and then do not advertise or give any incentives for shoppers to go in them

****

Thank you Mr. Prins for your service.  You served our community well.  You are going to be missed.

****

Do I have to marry into one of the local families here to get just a job interview? I got 15 years plus food service industry experience in major cities and I just received my umpteenth rejection letter not 5 minutes after applying, and this despite a now hiring sign. Yet...if I were to scrounge up a couple of bucks and go to the drive-thru any time of day or night I'll be in line a half an hour...again, me thinks you're focusing on the wrong candidates!

****

Thanks for the information on former SHS athletics.  Now, please do likewise for alumni who graduated in the top 10% of each year's class!

****

Just when I think the City can't possibly throw-away more money, an "electronic marquee??"  Wow, this makes that SUV look like a wise purchase.  No, we haven't forgotten about that SUV.

****

I've lived in Live Oak for almost 13 years and I love it here, but in those 13 years they have not paved any City roads and they are awful.  Especially the road in front of the DMV and Property Tax Office. All of the City Roads seem to have been neglected.

****

Since the City wasted so much money on the  electric sign, it would be nice if it was at least legible.  What a waste.

****

I want to thank the Public Works guys for the tremendous effort they put forth every week in keeping the Live Oak Cemetery looking awesome. Thanks and your hard work is not going unnoticed.

****

I would say the CRA Director's resignation is another example of micro management at City Hall.  If you hire someone, let him (or her) do their job.  Otherwise, just do it yourself.
