Weather alert for Lafayette County

Mayo — Sheriff Brian Lamb just issued a statement regarding the inclement weather and road conditions for Lafayette County.

“Be advised that Lafayette County remains under a Winter Storm Warning effective through 1 a.m. on Thursday morning,” said Lamb. “During this evening, sleet with isolated mixed in snow can be expected making travel conditions hazardous. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility and use caution while driving.”

Because of the hazardous road conditions, Lafayette County Schools have been canceled for Thursday January 30. The Lafayette County Courthouse and county offices will open on January 30 at 10 a.m.
