Live Oak Library’s 2014 Adult Summer Reading Program announced

Live Oak —

“Literary Elements” is the theme of Live Oak Public Library’s 2014 Adult Summer Reading Program combining science and literature in a variety of programs sure to pique your interest. Come to a book discussion, learn the science of weather tracking, or discover the intelligence of your dog. Read some of today’s best science writing, learn the science of growing your own gourmet mushrooms, and enjoy a series of recycled crafts. 

June 24, 1 p.m. Up Cycle Crafts -T-Shirt Crafts: Learn to make a reusable bag and scarf. Bring your own T-shirt or use one of ours.

June 25, 2 p.m. Literary Elements Book Club

June 27, 12 p.m. Travel to China - Rob Wolfe, a  local world traveler, will share a multimedia presentation about the country and culture.

July 1, 1 p.m. Up Cycle Crafts - Magazine Wreath: Roll magazines to make a decorative wreath.

July 3, 6 p.m. How Smart Is Your Dog? - What goes on inside your dog’s mind?  Find out answers to these questions and more, presented by dog expert and author Caroline Coile.

July 8, 1 p.m. Up Cycle Crafts - Pretty Vase: Reuse a glass jar to create a beautiful centerpiece.

July 9, 12 p.m. Lunch & Learn - Couponing Workshop

July 10, 12 p.m. Lunch & Learn - History of Suwannee County - Presented by Eric Musgrove, Suwannee County Historian

July 10, 6 p.m. Growing Gourmet Mushrooms - Learn the art and science of growing gourmet mushrooms presented by Carolyn Saft, Suwannee County Extension Office.

July 15, 1 p.m. Up Cycle Crafts - Toilet Paper Tube Wreath: Reuse toilet paper tubes to create a wreath for your door.

July 22, 1 p.m. Up Cycle Crafts- Tin Can Storage: Reuse cans to make a decorative storage container.

July 23, 2 p.m. Literary Elements Book Club

July 29, 1 p.m. Up Cycle Crafts - Folded Book Art: Turn an old book into a decorative piece of art.
