Live Oak 4th of July event planned

Live Oak —

Plans for a spectacular Fourth of July celebration in downtown Live Oak are underway and details will be finalized next week, according to Keith Mixon, event coordinator.

According to Mixon, the event will be held on Friday, July 4, beginning at 5 p.m. Food vendors will be set up on Warren Street, with crafts and other types of vendors lined up on US 90 from Pine to Houston Avenue.

Live music will also kick off at 5 p.m. at the Live Oak Passenger Depot featuring the best of local talent. A live band will take the stage at Millennium Park during the evening.

A Freedom 5K run is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The highlight of the evening will be the fireworks display that will begin at about 9:30 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from the area of Stoudemire’s parking lot.

“We’re anticipating a great Fourth of July in downtown Live Oak,” Mixon said. “We’re expecting several thousand folks to show up. It’s going to be very entertaining with lots of food vendors, booths and activities for children.”

A committee will be meeting Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Millennium Park in downtown Live Oak to finalize details.
